NTC free and nominally priced events
From 2008 to 2015 the NTC hosted a series of free talks on interesting work and ideas informed by Narrative Therapy and Collective Narrative Practice. We were pleased to offer these gratis presentations which have come to be known as enjoyable networking opportunities and community-building events around narrative ideas.
This year in 2020 we will be starting a new series of nominally priced half-day workshops.

November 2015 — Double Listening to Stories of Hope & Despair with Young Women
January 2014 — Narrative Ideas in Schools: Working with Young People and Hopelessness
February 2013 — Narrative Practices in Contexts of Hardship: An Introduction to the work of the Treatment Rehabilitation Centre (TRC) in Ramallah This fundraising event was presented by Amy Druker, Ruth Pluznick and Angel Yuen and raised $1200 for the TRC.
June 2012 — Conversations about Gender, Culture and Narrative Practice During this workshop ideas and stories were shared from the book ’Conversations about gender, culture, violence and narrative practice: Stories of hope and complexity from women of many cultures.’ (2008). Jill Andrew, festival director of BITE ME! Toronto Int’l Body Image Film and Arts Festival was also interviewed at this event.
December 2011 — Breaking the Silence Through Clay The Narrative Therapy Centre, Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic and the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art collaborated together in this workshop to raise awareness about violence against women as a critical community issue.
September 2010 — Team of Life A methodology that uses sporting metaphor to creatively engage youth in conversation about hardships they have faced. At this event we collected five boxes of donated books from participants that were shipped and donated to the Mount Elgon Project in Uganda.
September 2009 — Tree of Life An arts-based narrative group counseling approach for children who have experienced trauma or difficult times.

October 2008 — Strengthening Resistance: The use of narrative practices in working with genocide survivors in Rwanda. Our very first free event was presented by Cheryl White and David Denborough of the Dulwich Centre Institute of Collective Narrative Practice in Adelaide Australia
