Alongside each story of trauma and suffering are stories of responses, skills of living, acts of resistance and survival. A narrative therapy approach is always on the lookout for these double-storied accounts.
In this 1.5 hour webinar Angel Yuen will:
Invite online participants to consider and think about trauma discourse
Share some beginning ideas about Narrative Therapy approaches to trauma
Share a story to illustrate double-storied accounts of trauma – ie: story of trauma ‘and’ story of skills, responses, and connection
This webinar will be suited to practitioners new(er) to the ideas and practices of narrative therapy. It also is intended for beginner, intermediate and advanced level practitioners who are seeking alternative approaches, versus mainstream trauma discourse, to responding to trauma.

About the presenter…
Angel Yuen works as a narrative therapist and clinical supervisor in alternative-private practice in Durham region of the Greater Toronto Area. She also offers tailored narrative trainings and consultation to many organizations. Angel’s previous work spanning three decades included experiences in school, community, and adult and children’s mental health settings. Angel has worked alongside persons of all ages to assist them in moving from stories of depression to preferred identity stories.
Angel is the author of the 2019 book ‘Pathways beyond despair: Re-authoring lives of young people through narrative therapy’, and she is co-editor with Cheryl White of the 2007 book ‘Conversations about gender, culture, violence and narrative practice: Stories of hope and complexity from
- Anyone new to the ideas of narrative therapy
- All practitioners seeking hopeful and effective ways of working together with people struggling with depression
Certificates of Training can be requested at the end of the online webinar and will state 1.5 hours of narrative therapy training. Certificates can be used to qualify for eligibility for continuing education credits from professional colleges and licensing boards. On March 27, 2026 we will be hosting a full-day online course titled ‘Narrative Therapy Approaches to Trauma: Elevating Agency, Resistance and Responses’. We will extend the introductory learning from the March 4th webinar. Together we will explore more ideas and practices that shape narrative therapy in relation to working with people suffering from the consequences of trauma. Additionally, there will be a focus of the politics and ethics that guide narrative therapy practices.
